Birmingham UK’s Friendly Fire Band returns with a fresh rub a dub riddim album. Black Cab Riddim is the British version of the timeless Taxi Riddim, with a heavy back beat and unique old school spaced out mixes on each cut, reminiscent of early DJ versions recorded on B side dub versions.
Kicking off the series is veteran Jamaican artist Earl Sixteen, who updates his studio one classic with “As We Come In” about Police taking set on Soundsystem dances.
This is echoed by UK’s whitest veteran MC Cheshire Cat’s (Luv Injection / Leftfield) counteraction, “Nuh Badda Mash Up” on the same theme, and the previously released “Ten Weh”, by Friendly Fire Band’s Myki Tuff, with his cautionary tale about herb confiscation.
