Tobago artist Neepz and his Jamaican friend Najashi were not deterred by the Los Angeles Covid-19 lockdown but used this time to produce their third collaboration single “Ras Warrior”.
Neepz was born in Delaford, Tobago, a modest seaside village on the smaller of the two islands that make up the Republic of Trinidad &Tobago. In his late teens, he and his brother, Nick Arthur, were recognized locally for producing popular Reggae and Soca mixes and turning up the parties, which led to the eventual formation of their own studio and style of music. In 2012, Neepz had a chance encounter with an entertainment manager from Los Angeles that would change his life forever. The following year, he was signed to a recording and management contract with 1440 Entertainment, LLC, and he set up shop in California, USA.
Najashi is an MC, rapper, hip-hop artist who has been in the music business for many years. He is a vocalist and founding member of the Los Angeles Roots Rock Reggae band Dread Daze.
Najashi was born of Jamaican parents in New York City, raised and attended school in Jamaica, and eventually returned to the United States to live in Los Angeles. Coming from a Sound System DJ background, he formed the very multicultural, eclectic Dread Daze about 10 years ago. He has created many solo projects and has also been involved in projects with other artists, including collaborations with Motiv8 (DJ with Black Eyed Peas) with “Party Now Go Down,” a dance single, and now three singles with reggae artist Neepz.
Following on from their singles “Surround Dem” and “Ready ToUnite (Lion Paw)” they bring you “Ras Warrior”, a song calling all Rasta warriors to continue to fight Babylon’s system that is destroying our environment and our society. This song is a call not to sit back and think the struggle is over, but to keep up the fight.
Visuals to the song are were released Friday 18th September 2020.
