Recording artist and Juno nominated songwriter/producer, Black Orchid invites us to get to know her a little bit better with her new video “Show Yuh”. Described by fans as her sensual quarantine release, the video, directed by Tess Francis (Ironhorse Productions,) offers that same voluptuous energy.
A Reggae-Inspired artist based in Toronto Canada, Orchid is a multifaceted creative, who has displayed exceptional writing and vocals to her own productions. Her records are genre-bending and innovative, “Show Yuh” is no different. Fusing her Jamaican roots into the track, the single brings a modern dancehall sound garnering positive reviews among the greater Canadian Diaspora. The single featuring Kelard Tha Lyricist is currently grabbing the attention of Spotify Curators and has captured coveted slots on premium Reggae and Dancehall playlists.
A semifinalist in the 2017 “Battle Of The Beatmakers”, Orchid has produced alongside Sly & Robbie and has worked with artists such as DeeWunn, Chelsea Stewart, and Maestro Fresh Wes to name a few.
She is the founder and curator of the “That’s a Dope Sample” music project, where she teaches about the art of sampling, breaks down samples and the interpolations in the various genres of music.
Her upcoming project will see her partnering with Maizy F alongside other Toronto-based talents for a special 6ix Female Cypher.
